In the summer of 2012 we held an Open House and Garden Tour. Our beautiful perennial gardens were colorfully decorated with garden ornaments from Members' gardens and various containers planted by Club Members. The Guilderland Historical Society offered tours of the Frederick House and refreshments were served. We also presented a workshop on Container Gardening that was full of great information. We were very pleased that so many visitors stopped by!
In 2012 we also took on a special project as part of the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce 40th Anniversary event, "Three Chairs for Guilderland." Sixty organizations and businesses, including the Garden Club, painted Adirondack chairs in a variety of designs and themes. All 6O chairs were on display throughout the town and then auctioned off, with proceeds benefitting the Guilderland School District. Our chair is placed in the gardens at the Frederick House during the summer months.

In 2015, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Guilderland Garden Club, we sponsored an art contest for students in the Farnsworth Middle School to create an original design for the cover of our Anniversary Yearbook. The winning design was created by Anna Brust.
For several years, we participated in New York in Bloom at the New York State Museum. This was an annual fundraiser for the Museum's After School Program; unfortunately, the event has been discontinued. To see our show entries, click here.
We have also visited Innisfree in Millbrook, New York;
Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz; the Berkshire
Bird Sanctuary and Botanical Gardens in Petersburgh;
and Yaddo in Saratoga Springs.
The Club sponsored a contest for the 2018 Yearbook cover. This contest was open to all Guilderland Senior Citizens, and those Senior artists who applied were asked to submit an original design for the cover. We congratulate Deborah Adams for her beautiful winning creation and all the Seniors who participated. We are also proud that the 2018 Yearbook won a certificate of excellence award presented to the Club at the annual Fall Conference sponsored by District III of the Federated Garden Clubs of NYS.
